在这一季的How I met your mother的最后一集中，Ted整天喊着要设计最伟大的建筑，Lily看不过去，忠言相劝:

Lily:Architecture is killing you, and it's killing us to watch it killing you. You are like the goat with that washcloth,  You want it so bad, and everytime the world tries to take it away from you, you keep grabbing it. But you know what, it's just a washcloth, why do you even want it? 

Ted:Because, I have to be an architect, that's the plan.

Lily:Screw the plan. I planned on being a famous artist, Marshall planned on being an environmental lawyer, Robin planned on being a TV reporter...Barney planned on being a violinist 

...

Lily:Look, you can't design your life like a building. It doesn't work that way. You just have to live it, and it will design itself.

Ted:So what, I should just do nothing?

Lily:No. Listen to what the world is telling you to do and take the leap.

话音刚落，Marshall顿悟般的去准备跳那一步了，就在大家担心他的安危时，Marshall克服了恐惧，跳跃过了那横在两座十几层楼高之间的约两米的距离，紧接着所有人都跳了过去。

Ted旁白：That was the year that I got left at the altar. It was the year that I got knocked out by a crazy bartender. The year I got fired. The year I got beat up by a goat. A girl goat, at that. And damn it if it wasn't the best year of my life. Because, if any of those things hadn't happened, I would have never ended up in a which turned out to be the best job that I ever had. But more importantly, I wouldn't have met your mother, because, as you know... she was in that class. But of course, that story is only just beginning.
